Born in Indiana in 2004, Klara Seib received her BFA in Painting and Humanistic Studies at the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2026. Seib is currently pursuing the trade of carpentry while she continues to create paintings and works on paper."There is a sense of the impersonal, of something infirm facing a command for submission. Creating images is a compulsive need to ensure this perception not be profaned as defacement is the will of the collective of personality. This practice exists aside from recreation or reflexive expression to the end of seeking labor as anchoring. This is neither secular nor meant as a metaphor; its reality is evidenced by its labor."
If we are to reflect on this further, questions may be asked as to what constitutes a draw to certain types of images. One might say 'this is merely a matter of personal attribution of taste'—we may say this is 'liked' in that it is visually appealing to the individual. Yet, there is a sense that such secular mapping is inadequate to qualify such an experience—a feeling of weightedness. Is this explanation, one that speaks to non-secular gravity, merely a justification of 'personal' feeling or the discovery of a structure that adequately accounts for it? Only the structure that denies its existence would dismiss it as mere justification; such are the boundaries of its breadth of knowing. You must pick a line and follow it; that is the only mode in which possibility can become actual. If not, then there is nothingness and everything at once. To be particular is to be imperfect in some capacity, but, at the very least, a direction is being pointing at. I see this as being indicative of the sacred in some capacity. But to describe the process: if one were to say 'I am inspired' by something, where are we to locate the director? Here, we must become very particular about language as it dictates the reality illuminated in this moment. It is difficult to say such is 'actor' versus 'actee,' and that this is indicative of a veil. It may well be taken as psychological. This is mistaken and equal parts reductive. There is unease in that it is unreconciled; in this place, to make claim 'it is God here' is to lose him. I will not say he is here, that will sit closer to him than any willful effort. It is avoidance of any sharp definition that offers the greatest fidelity. For now, it would be most accurate to say: I am a processist who is desirous of a particular visionary mode of being. This is to look upon it and attempt to piece it together from a severed and unstable veil. But the clarity and the reality that it holds is undeniable in its impression upon me. That uninhabitable reality is my form of mechanical inspiratio.
